Matošin Winery is a family-owned establishment located on Croatia's stunning Dalmatian coast. Specializing in wines made from the indigenous Babic grape, this winery honors a tradition that dates back centuries. The Babic grape is known for its unique sweet and sour flavor profile, producing rich, dark wines with a robust concentration of tannins and alcohol. Higher-quality Babic wines are particularly noted for their aging potential, making them a favorite among wine enthusiasts.

Terroir of the Dalmatian Region

The Northern Dalmatian region boasts a Mediterranean climate, characterized by warm days and cool nights, making it the most significant wine-producing area in Croatia. With an impressive average of 340 sunny days per year, the region's dry and sunny weather creates ideal conditions for grape cultivation. The compact, fertile soil further supports the growth of high-quality vines, contributing to the exceptional wines produced here.

Had an absolutely incredible afternoon at the winery — one of the highlights of our trip in Croatia. The owner took the time to explain to us all the wines, the history of the vineyard, and even showed us the cellar. Will be back next time I’m near Split!

Amazing setting, views, beautiful sunset over the hills. The owner was quiet at first, but he described each wine in the tasting very well and it was clear that he lives for wine and understands it well. We recommend his sparkling wine, which is truly unique and stands up to comparisons with much better known wines. His other red wines were tasty and dense, they are organic wines, so there was a traditional Croatian aftertaste, but one can get used to it.

AMAZING! What a beautiful location in the middle of the mountains. Ivo welcomed us with a sincerely warmth and we felt he is passionate about his winery. The homemade and traditional “Peka” with Pulpo was absolutely the best in the region! Next to that we had the vertical wine tasting, 4 wines from different years, which were very good. If we did not have to fly out the next day, we would have bought a lot of bottles 😉

Great setting for a very pleasant tasting at sunset. We were alone. Thanks to the owner for taking the time for us at the end of the day. Sorry for our poor English. Greetings from Switzerland and petting the cat 😻 Sofia and Daniel
